The rivalry between Patrick Lavon Mahomes II and Josh Allen is primed to develop over the coming years. The duo has already delivered a hint of what could be in store for the fans through the next years. Following the loss experienced by Allen’s Bills in 2021 at the hands of the Chiefs in the divisional round. Josh Allen is 1 step away from an all-out war
ESPN has made some bold calls with this year’s rankings for the top 10 QBs. But their decision to rank Josh Allen third on their list will surely divide opinions among many fans and pundits. Allen is considered a direct rival to Patrick Mahomes in the QB slot. When they pushed Mahomes to the top of the list this year from 2nd, many would have expected a rise for the Bills’ man to be on the cards.
But ESPN retained Allen’s rankings from last year and placed him 3rd yet again. They justified their reasoning behind Allen to be that he can go on and off within a game, which is something rarely seen with the Chief’s man. Although Allen has put up top-of-the-class numbers in his position, he hasn’t been consistent enough in the metrics. Since the Bills can go a half doing nothing after some spectacular plays by their QB.

With the new season up ahead, Allen may use this as fuel for motivation to lead the Bills to the top. But this won’t be the only source of motivation for the 3rd best QB, as Mahomes would outshine him in the off-season yet again.
