There have been only two teams bringing back elite quarterbacks one after the other- the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts. In a bid to keep the Peyton Manning era alive, the Colts brought in Andrew Luck and then Carson Wentz. But the Packers are a different story.
Aaron Rodgers succeeded Brett Favre and while their careers hold many parallels, the same cannot be said for Jordan Love. Ever since 1992, the Packers have been in contention for a Super Bowl for almost every season. But that era could potentially end with Rodgers shifting his allegiance. Amidst all the chaos, the Green Bay front office is confident with their investment in Love and only time will tell whether they made the right call.

The serene partnership between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers has reached its conclusion. Earlier, Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee show and expressed his desire to move on from the Packers. Since then, the Packers were adamant about receiving a trade package worthy of a QB of A-Rod’s caliber. After a month of back and forth, the deal is finally done and Rodgers is officially a Jets. However, Rodgers’ departure has left a huge void in the Packers’ ranks, a void Jordan Love is expected to fill. With the noise around him, Jordan Love took to Instagram to share a direct message with the Packers’ fanbase.

“Just know we working” were the sentiments echoed by Love, along with several instances of the team hard at work. As it turns out, Aaron Rodgers sensed the passing of the mantle as soon as Love was drafted but believes that his MVP seasons just delayed the process, “I was open to that change based on how people responded, It was more just a sense, you drafted Jordan if I hadn’t won MVP twice in a row, this would have been a conversation two years ago, which is totally fine, I get it.”

While Rodgers saw Jordan Love stepping into his shoes, the Packers are in a very tricky situation. The Green Bay front office along with Love, will catch a lot of flak and scrutiny if the upcoming season does not go their way. However, it’s not only the players who are busy brushing their skills but the front office is also committed to the cause.

Are the Packers getting better?
A general manager lives by the board and dies by the board. Such is the situation for Packers’ GM Brian Gutekunst. Gutekunst is well aware of the loopholes in his existing roster and tried to make the best out of the options available to him in the 2023 NFL Draft. With Gutenkunst handing over the keys to Love, the next step was giving him enough options to throw to hence the addition of Oregon State junior tight end Luke Musgrave with the 42nd pick. But they weren’t done, the GM quickly traded pick 48 to Tampa Bay for picks 50 and 179, and in came Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed.
With the Packers adding key catching options, Jordan Love is expected to have freedom with his style of play, and the Packers’ fanbase certainly hopes for a seamless transition.
