Ahead of the anticipated Super Bowl weekend, the NFL world is forced to turn its attention to other pressing issues. Recently, news of an arrest warrant against a Cincinnati star called for public attention. Bengals RB Joe Mixon was treading on thin ice after an allegation against him surfaced.
But his agent Peter Schaffer was quick to quell the rising uproar. NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed that Schaffer was confident that the charges would be dropped. The agent seemed more concerned about the damage the incident would cause on the RB’s reputation. In light of all the negative press he’s been receiving, Mixon’s mother broke her silence on the matter.

Mixon’s future hangs in the balance
Mixon’s situation alongside the emerging reports on Joshua Sills have put teams in difficult positions. As a second round 2017 draft pick the RB has been quite instrumental on the field. With this incident coming to light, the Bengals find themselves navigating a tricky situation.
The RB is under contract with the franchise for the 2023 season. In September 2020, Mixon and the Bengals signed a four-year extension that’s worth $48 million. As of now, the franchise has offered no indication about his role in the team since the incident came to public knowledge.
