The seeds of the Joe Buck-Peyton Manning Rivalry

In week 3 of this season, Peyton Manning was covering the Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys game. While covering the game, Manning was talking about the defensive plays made in the match. Manning joked and said, “I don’t like having a co-host that knows as much as I do about coverage. I need a co-host that knows nothing about defensive coverages like Joe Buck. Troy doesn’t make mistakes very often, but when he does, Joe doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to coverage.”

Peyton was referring to the expert knowledge of Aikman at the expense of Joe Buck. Buck did not get the chance to get back at Manning instantly. He had to wait for the right opportunity.
