Winds of change are blowing across the NFL at the moment. It’s turning out to be a busy offseason for both players and teams as they continue to prepare for the upcoming 2021 season. A lot of free agents/released players will be up for grabs next month. One of them is former Houston Texans defensive end, JJ Watt.

After spending 9 seasons with the Texans, Watt departed Houston with mutual consent earlier this month. He is reportedly garnering interest from the likes of the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and even Green Bay Packers in the last couple of weeks.

However, one new team has also joined the race for Watt’s signature, NFC West franchise Arizona Cardinals.

Multiple NFL teams lineup for potential JJ Watt acquisition

Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim dared their fanbase to dream when revealing the dream of signing JJ Watt in the coming weeks.

He said, “I don’t want to get into details, but as you know if there’s an opportunity that makes sense on both the football side and the business side, we will certainly take a swing.

“It’s certainly fun to see your players get involved. Obviously, Hop’s a guy that I’ve got a great deal of respect for and not just as a player, but obviously the addition of him has certainly improved our recruiting game,” Keim said via the team’s website.

The Cardinals need to free up considerable cap space in order to make improvements to their roster. One possible exclusion suggested was waving edge rusher Chandler Jones, who played in just 5 games for Kliff Kingsbury’s team last year.

Cutting Jones would free up over $15 million in space for the Cardinals. However, Kiem has ruled out any such move for their star who has 61 sacks from 69 games for the South-western franchise.
