Injury can find the greatest of players at the best moments. Unfortunately, Jimmy Garoppolo found himself on the bitter end as well. After sustaining a calf injury, his return to the San Francisco 49ers is under question. Moreover, post-injury and being out of the 49ers for long, Garoppolo wants to trade to a new team. Jimmy’s agent provides a slight update as the off-season continues and more information comes along.

While coaches and team executives return from vacation, the QB’s agent is looking for a landing spot. Even though Jimmy Garoppolo is on the 49ers’ roster for the upcoming season, it is unlikely that the situation will remain the same.

Rumors of Garoppolo joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are flat-out false, as per his agent. The QB’s agent, Don Yee, confirmed it was a rumor based on a conversation that never happened. To many people’s surprise, the agent is looking for a potential trade offer but doesn’t want his client to go to the Buccaneers as a backup for the legend Tom Brady.

Jimmy’s shoulder recovery is on schedule, as per his agent. The shoulder surgery came as a surprise to the team management. 49ers GM John Lynch mentioned that he had a different scenario for the QB, but this was unexpected.

What is the situation surrounding the calf injury and shoulder surgery of Jimmy Garoppolo?

Earlier in the 2021 season, the QB sustained a calf injury in a game against the Seattle Seahawks. As a result, Trey Lance replaced him, and Garoppolo went into recovery. Post this, he also asked to get shoulder surgery on his throwing arm, which attracted the attention of John Lynch.

He said, “The decision that was made for Jimmy to have surgery certainly caused a lot of teams to pause and at least slow down the process to do their due diligence. He made a decision for his long term, along with doctors, that he needed that surgery. We all blessed that, but that did affect his market. So now we hold on to him.”

The potential landing spots for the QB look ambiguous. Even the Panthers finalized a trade for Baker Mayfield, and Garoppolo’s agent denied him going to the Bucs. So only time will tell which team is willing to offer a deal and a secured place to the 49ers’ QB.
