Tom Brady is making a return to the NFL. And no, he is not coming out of retirement once again. In his post-retirement quest for investments in sports teams, Brady already invested in the HERTZ-sponsored JOTA sports car team and the WNBA team, the Las Vegas Aces. Now, the 7X Super Bowl champion is joining hands once again in a $5.1 billion business that marks his return to the league, but this time as a stakeholder rather than a player.

With the deal finalized and Brady wearing his ownership cap, an additional concerning update puts Brady and the franchise in troubled waters. It is a concern that is directly related to their performance in the league. What will this new hurdle mean for the franchise and TB12? And how does the team strategize to tackle this new hurdle?

Tom Brady has recently finalized a deal with Mark Davis to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Prior to Brady’s investment, back in March, QB Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the Raiders in free agency. The team finalized a three-year $72.75 million contract, including $45 million guaranteed with the 31-year-old QB in a move from the San Francisco 49ers. He was brought in as a replacement for long-term QB1 Derek Carr, who recently moved to the New Orleans Saints on a four-year $150 million deal after being released by the Raiders. But new updates reveal that their new QB signing Garoppolo is yet to fully recover from the injuries he suffered last season with the 49ers.

According to recent reports, the 31-year-old QB underwent foot surgery after signing with the Raiders. The surgery was to address the fracture he suffered on his left foot last season. This means that Garoppolo will miss the team’s OTAs lined up and his return to the league could be delayed to as far as the beginning of training camp in July.

The new update comes after the QB suffered the injury back in December, while still playing for the 49ers.

Garoppolo’s injury last season

After taking the field for the 49ers with their then-starting QB Trey Lance suffering an injury, Jimmy Garoppolo was out of the season after a Lisfranc Fracture during their week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins in 2022. This was the third season-ending injury for Garoppolo with the 49ers, after missing the season with an injury in 2018, followed by missing eight games with ankle injuries in 2020. While Garoppolo now recovers from his surgery, he is still slated to make a return by the start of the regular season in September. While he will miss OTAs with his new teammates, the training camp will be a vital time for Garoppolo to build chemistry with a new offensive line at the Raiders.
