The New York Jets have been waiting patiently on one particular name ‘Aaron Rodgers‘. Aaron Rodgers earlier made headlines by going into a ‘darkness retreat’. At the time Rodgers was contemplating between retirement or a possible trade from the Green Bay Packers. Amid all the chaos surrounding Rodgers, the Jets seem to be first in line in a long list of worthy suitors. And it seems the Jets are making preparations to acquire the back-to-back NFL MVP.
Ever since the retreat, Rodgers has made multiple appearances reflecting back on the experience. However, he has cautiously evaded the biggest question of all. It was speculated that Rodgers has a number of options if he chooses to leave the Green Bay Packers. Even though that still holds true, many of the top brasses within the NFL perceive Rodgers to be a ‘problem’. The New York Jets have been in the conversations for A-Rod ever since the beginning, and still, continue to make advances. They even went on to release a couple of veterans from the team, seemingly to make cap space for Rodgers.

Rodgers carries a hefty contract along with him. If the Super Bowl champion does indeed decides to join the Jets, he would count $15.8m towards their cap in 2023 and $32.5m in 2024.
Although these numbers do not look so terrifying, the Jets would have to assemble a competitive roster around A-Rod, to maximize his output and the team’s immediate ceiling.
With these exact thoughts, maybe, the New York Jets have started reshuffling their team.
Jets are releasing WR Braxton Berrios at the start of the league year next week, per source. The two sides discussed a restructuring of his contract but were unable to reach agreement. His release will save $5 million against Jets’ cap.

As per a report by Adam Schefter, the Jets have decided to part ways with their wide receiver Braxton Berrios. This decision will apparently save the team $5 million in cap space. Prior to releasing Berrios, the Jets waved goodbye to some of their late-round draft picks, gaining Ravens’ safety Chuck Clark in exchange.
These moves feel like the Jets are all prepared to welcome Rodgers with a bang.

The Hackett connection
Aaron Rodgers already has a trusted friend in the Jets’ offensive coordinator. Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett spent three years together with the Packers. Hackett’s offensive schemes were a big help for Rodgers as the future hall of fame went on to add two more MVP trophies to his cabinet.
Rodgers went on to showcase his admiration for the OC, “Love Hack. Hack is my guy. Love him and Megan and the kids, They’re really special to me. We really bonded when he was in Green Bay. He made it fun. He made the room fun. He made the weeks fun.”

The Jets’ top officials have visited Rodgers in California along with the team owner, showing their full commitment to him. But if they really want to enlist A-Rod into their ranks, Hackett might be their best bet.
