Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to constant attention. No matter the circumstances, the NFL community often manages to nitpick and find flaws in Rodgers and his life choices. The Green Bay Packers fanbase has a couple of valid reasons to stay salty with Aaron Rodgers and his decision to join the New York Jets. However, the 4x MVP is just enjoying his life out there.

The NFL community was not very accepting as Aaron Rodgers earlier alluded to going into a four-day darkness retreat. A similar reaction was seen when Rodgers disclosed his indulging in ayahuasca. However, the recent outburst surrounding Aaron Rodgers is just unfair, but fortunately for A-Rod, he has teammates looking out for him.

After spending 18 successful seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers felt his time was over. The fact that the Packers’ drafted Jordan Love indicated to A-Rod that the Green Bay front office was gearing for the future, and his suspicions were right. However, Rodgers winning back-to-back MVP honors just delayed the process of passing on the mantle, but the inevitable did happen.

Shortly after returning from his dark retreat, Aaron Rodgers asked for a trade to the New York Jets and the Packers obliged. Since then, A-Rod has immersed himself in the New York experience, getting offered exclusive dinners, making appearances at Knicks’ games, and even grooving at Taylor Swift concerts.

However, Rodgers having the time of his life seems to have rubbed some NFL fans the wrong way as several could not look past the fact that A-Rod just so happened to be a Swiftie. While Rodgers didn’t answer the criticism, his Jets’ teammate John Franklin-Myers did.

The clip of Rodgers dancing to the hit single, ‘Shake it Off’ took over the Internet, and Myers just had to respond to the pointless scrutiny, “Y’all weird, why can’t he dance in peace“.

Since the incident, Aaron Rodgers has remained tight-lipped and maybe he has just embodied the Taylor Swift lyrics, ‘haters gonna hate‘. But defending Aaron Rodgers isn’t the only time Myers pulled through for his current QB1.

The John Franklin Myers sacrifice

The Aaron Rodgers trade left the New York Jets in dire need of salary cap space. The only possible solution to the chaos was to restructure Aaron Rodgers’ deal and they did. The Jets’ front office picked up Rodgers’ guaranteed option bonus of $58.3 million, converting it into a signing bonus, making his cap hit for 2023 a mere $15.79 million.

But just playing around with Aaron Rodgers’ money wasn’t going to cut it, hence steps in John Franklin Myers. The franchise converted $4.32 million of Myers’ base salary into a signing bonus, creating $3.5 million in 2023 salary cap space.
