The Dallas Cowboys offense became a prime-time debate during the training camp period. With star-passers out of the page, the franchise has to rely upon whatever remains. One is Ezekiel Elliott, who is ready to pull a comeback plug after an injury-prone 2021-22. Recently, Jerry Jones hinted over the offensive line mystery and who will lead the running backs.

The Dallas Cowboys had an offbeat situation in this year’s offseason. The trade of Amari Cooper and the release of La’el Collins did not satisfy fans of America’s team. Jerry Jones’ wagers are always a source of contention, but he went a little too far this time. The franchise’s 2022 Draft went well, but there were still some worries.

Dallas Cowboys to play a long shot

On Saturday, Jerry Jones was set to appear on the NFL Network’s Training Camp: Back Together. During the broadcast, Jones addresses the RB situation and who would be the starter. He calls that the Dallas Cowboys wish Tony Pollard to perform, although not at the expenditure of Ezekiel Elliott’s catches.

Jerry mentions via NFL.com, “We gotta have Tony Pollard out there. No, seriously, Zeke’s gotta be our feature, and he is our feature. We can feature him in a lot of different ways. We all recognize what he does in the passing game because of his protection ability… So it’s critical that we make Zeke — because he’s capable of being that — really the focus of what we’re doing. Now then, Pollard, there’s plenty of room for Pollard. There’s plenty of room for Pollard when Zeke’s in there. Pollard needs to get the ball.”

Ezekiel Elliott stands as a tough athlete in the fray. Jerry Jones keeps the pass protection scheme under significant importance, and Zeke can help manage it well.

Is 2022 the last chance for Ezekiel Elliott?

2021 was rather unfair for RB Ezekiel Elliott because of a knee injury. In the meantime, Tony Pollard arose as an explosive offensive weapon for Dallas and is coming off his best stretch yet. He established himself as the principal recipient alternative out of the backfield. It led to concerns over Zeke, as sportswriter Charean Williams feels it could be the last of him in the Cowboys — unless he makes a fruitful comeback.

Jerry Jones keeping RB Elliott on the main stage could be a trick to examine his performance. Either way, it is the only chance for the standout RB to achieve and further set his name in the Cowboys’ RB legacy.
