Jones has been the most affluent owner of an NFL franchise for years. However, given the past few days’ events, Jones’ hold over his coveted title of the richest owner in the NFL has slipped away.

Who toppled Jerry Jones from his perch as the richest owner in the NFL?

With the arrival of a new wealthy owner in the NFL franchise, Jones no longer remains the richest owner of a team. That honor now goes to the new owner of the Denver Broncos- Rob Walton.

Walton reportedly purchased the Broncos from the previous owner Pat Bowlen at $4.65 billion, and Bowlen had bought the franchise at $78 million. On the other hand, Jerry Jones had purchased the Cowboys for about $140 million in the 1980s. It was a heavy investment at that time.

The Cowboys still are the most valuable team in the world at $6.5 billion. While the Broncos’ value is slightly lower than the Cowboys, Walton’s personal wealth is more than Jones’. It is because Walton is the heir to the Walmart chain. They estimate his personal wealth to be around $59 billion.

Their performance has a significant impact on his net worth.
