Dallas Cowboys lack some serious experience and depth in their squad after injury setbacks. The Mike McCarthy-coached side lost their WR corps, Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson, in the off-season. The matters got worse after Michael Gallup and James Washington were out of the team with injuries.
Despite a lack of resources, Dallas Cowboys owner and president Jerry Jones is not keen on signing the talented free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown. Earlier in March, Brown expressed his interest in joining Dallas. He said Jerry Jones should take a chance on him. However, Jones dismissed the suggestion. In his reply, the owner turned to the youngsters who are likely to get more chances on the team.

Why is he disinterested in a player who has won seven Pro Bowls and four All-Pro nods to his name? The answer points to some of the off-field antics AB has been a part, in recent times.
The infamous exit of Antonio Brown from the league
Antonio Brown is an experienced campaigner with impressive results, but what stands against him is the repeated list of problems he has involved in all the teams in which he has been a part, in the past. Earlier in January, the 34-year-old infamously pulled off his jersey and shoulder pads and walked off the field while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers side. As a result, he lost his place in the team for disciplinary reasons.
Brown did not bag any new offers since then, and his future has been uncertain in recent times. He even went on to say that he will not take up an ankle surgery to recuperate from a recent injury until a team shows interest in him. Two months later, he said he will not play football in 2022.
However, he asked Jones to “call him” to which the Cowboys owner replied, “We’re good.” Jones added he wants to give a chance to the youngsters on the team.

Jerry Jones and the history of signings
Despite initial hesitation, Jones opts for splash signings and the Cowboys have signed players with some questionable pasts. He bought free agents including James Washington, Leonard Davis, Jay Novacek, Anthony Henry, Zach Thomas, Darren McFadden, Ray Donaldson, Ken Hamlin and many others who have contributed a significant role in the growth of the Cowboys side.
However, what stands against Brown are matters concerning off the field. It is clear he is yet to win the confidence of the Cowboys manager. Much of AB’s chances may depend on how the Cowboys team fare in the initial leg of the NFL, which is starting on September 11.
