When it comes to pro football, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones becomes adamant with his decisions. Well, not to mention, several times, these decisions proved to be wise for the team’s success in the league. Being a risk taker himself, the 79-year-old businessman is spitting out some bold statements to recover from the ongoing slump of OTs. Jones vows to include newcomers and young stars to take over the position, leaving the veterans to get some rest before the playoffs.

Even before the season officially begins, the Cowboys owner is strategizing ways to use his resources wisely. The offensive tackles have faced a myriad of injuries this offseason. As a result, the Cowboys’ depth chart has become null and void, leaving no choice other than going for the newcomers and rookies into the roster.
Recently, Jerry Jones mentioned that he isn’t seeking any trade or signing a free agent; instead, they will stick with the young talents, allowing them to come forward and prove themselves.
This announcement was made in the context of Tyron Smith’s injury, and the Cowboys’ next move.
“We want to look from within, and that’s the smartest and logical way,” said team owner and general manager Jerry Jones. “The biggest thing is Tyron will be back, in my view, for the playoffs and the games preceding the playoffs. This gives us a chance to get a lot of reps. We’ve got to learn to play with these young guys.” he added to his explanation.
Smith was injured during the practice drills while he was trying to block linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.
However, he suffered a torn left hamstring and was taken back to the locker room. The next prospect on the list to cover at the left tackle was the 21-year-old Tyler Smith. Unfortunately, he tweaked his ankle, and just like Tyron Smith, he was taken away from the field.
Tyler Smith gives hope to Jerry Jones
Although he twisted his ankle, the offensive tackle affirmed that his injury was not serious. The youngster can take on the field in the season opener covering for Tyron Smith. He was nominated with the sole purpose to play in the third preseason game. However, Smith affirmed that he is ready for every other opportunity.

“I knew as soon as I put my name on that piece of paper I would be held to a certain standard. I would be required to give certain parts of myself to it,” Smith said. “I’m ready for whatever comes ahead, and we’re going to approach it day by day,” he added.
