It’s been a season filled with hurdles for veteran NFL coach Mike McCarthy. The Dallas Cowboys have been terrible in McCarthy’s first season as head coach. However, while their defensive struggles and the poor running back game is down to the management’s fault, there have been certain unfortunate incidents that were out of their control.

Dak Prescott’s injury was one such tragedy that has had a lasting effect on the Cowboys’ ongoing NFL campaign. They haven’t won a single game since Week 5 against the New York Giants. Talking about the Giants, their neighbors, the New York Jets, are yet to win a single game this season.

As such, the Jets remain in a prime position to acquire potential NFL number one draft pick, Trevor Lawrence. However, if the Dallas Cowboys fail to win any of their remaining games, can they pip the Jets to secure Lawrence’s signature in 2021?

Skip Bayless puts forth an interesting Dallas Cowboys – Trevor Lawrence theory

On the latest segment of Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, host Skip Bayless offered another potential destination for Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Bayless, a long-time Dallas Cowboys, suggested that his team could land Lawrence if they continue on their current trajectory.

“Okay, so this pains me to talk about but as much as I still believe my team has some far-fetched possible you know that they could maybe steal this division somehow with like five wins. There’s also a really good chance my team’s not going to win another game. Trevon Diggs is now gone four to six weeks with a broken foot, just as he was emerging as a maybe future Pro Bowler.”

“But I’m saying that they’ve had enough trouble if you lose Trevon Diggs from the back, or you know from the secondary, I don’t know it could get ugly…So the only game that I see, that I circle and say surely we can win that game is against the Washington football team at home on Thanksgiving…What if, what if we lose every game? Is it possible that the Jets with Joe Flacco at quarterback managed to stumble home and win a couple of games? It’s possible. So now we’re back to Trevor Lawrence,” Bayless said on the show.

Of Course, the Cowboys already have Dak Prescott on their roster. But with his long-term absence due to a compound ankle fracture could open up new avenues for the Texas-based franchise.

With Dak’s contract situation also shrouded in mystery, there could be something cooking in Jerry Jones’ mind. We know Lawrence dazzles in orange, but could the Blue and White of ‘America’s Team’ look better on him?
