Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had his best season performance in 2022. A second-round draft pick in 2020, Hurts has consistently improved his game every season. The 24-year-old has a long journey ahead in the NFL, just starting his journey three years ago in the league. But his 2022 performance led to the team believing in his capabilities and signing a five-year $255 million extension with him this offseason.

But while Hurts’ performance so far has been commendable, Stephen A. Smith’s colleague believes that the Eagles QB is still not given the respect he deserves. In fact, she feels that Patrick Mahomes’ QB competitor is rather disrespected when it comes to the QB department.

Last season, Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl LVII final. But they were defeated by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who went on to clinch their second Super Bowl championship under their 27-year-old QB. But Jalen Hurts had a spectacular record. He threw for 3,701 yards and scored 35 total touchdowns in 15 games, becoming a competitor for the NFL MVP title with Mahomes. But Kimberly A. Martin felt that Hurts is still to be given his due credit.

During a recent episode of First Take, Martin talked about how Hurts is a contender for the top spot when it comes to talking about the best QBs in the NFL. She said that the Eagles QB “is a victim” and the “most disrespected player in the NFL.” She further went on to talk about how Jalen Hurts deserves to be above Josh Allen and Joe Burrow in terms of ranking, because he led his team to the Super Bowl.

Should Hurts deserve more?

Even though Jalen Hurts earns more money than Patrick Mahomes, he is still not at par with the 2X Super Bowl champion. According to the list released by ESPN, Patrick Mahomes was ranked the No.1 QB in the league, followed by Burrow and Allen. And when it came to the 24-year-old Eagles QB, he was not even in the top five, being placed at the 6th position on the list. They went on to talk about how his performance led to him being in the top six positions, despite being left out from last year’s ranking. But when it comes to competing with the best QBs in the league, Jalen Hurts still has a long way to go.
