The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a monster win over divisional rivals, the NY Giants. The 48-22 hammering of the 7-5-1 Giants on Sunday night put Jalen Hurts in the forefront for the MVP race this season. Eagles quarterback Hurts can edge out Kansas QB Patrick Mahomes and Bills quarterback Josh Allen if he maintains the current stellar form for the remainder of the season.

3x Super Bowl champion and present-day host of the Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED, Shannon Sharpe, declared his decision for the regular season MVP. And it’s 24-year-old Jalen Hurts who leads the Eagles into a 12-1 record after Week 14. Hurts dominated the passing and running offense against the Giants. He had a combined three touchdowns, 2 from passing and 1 rushing TD.
However, even with the Philadelphia Eagles‘ unstoppable run, the NFL world mostly disagreed with Shannon Sharpe’s prediction. And that has much to do with the other notable quarterbacks in the league. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Tua Tagovailoa, and Joe Burrow are all having MVP-caliber seasons. And the race to the hardware can only get closer as we inch to the end of the season.
Does Jalen Hurts have too many options on the offense to be the MVP?
The primary argument against Jalen Hurts winning the MVP has been the core strength of the Philly side this year. Philly’s offense is third-best in the league right now. Fans and NFL Twitter think that the MVP should go to someone who performs despite facing adversities. And Jalen Hurts has it too easy according to some. Hurts has the league’s two top wide receivers at the moment in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Smith is only the fourth wide receiver ever to win the Heisman Trophy and this lethal offense doesn’t guarantee the MVP for Jalen Hurts.
I’m sorry. I don’t see an MVP going to a Qb who has:
10 games under 300 Yds Passing
4 games under 200 (!!) Yds PassingWith a bonafide #1 WR in AJ Brown, a hesiman winner WR2, a Top 5 rushing leader at RB.
And isn’t leading in Total TD or Total Yards.

Brown and Smith both had a touchdown each against the New York Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Miles Sanders ran the ball for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Eagles. This combination of a dangerous throwing and ground game puts the Eagles as Super Bowl favorites, but Patrick Mahomes still gets the MVP votes over Hurts. Mahomes has been leading the Kansas City Chiefs without Tyreek Hill. And, the Super Bowl 2020 MVP also leads the league in passing TDs and yards thrown.
Its close but mahomes still edges him out (with a much worse squad) pic.twitter.com/RDAo7LaD4E

Has one of the worst defenses in the league…no number 1 wide receiver….Kadarius injured…no Mecole..still is the highest scoring offense..most TDs..most passing yard..10-3..and in his worst game since the Colts still had 3 TDs and 352 yards..but sure let's give it to Hurts😂

Umm what are you looking at? Hurts is 9th in yards, 7th in TDs and 4th in QBR. Mahomes is 1st in all 3. 🤡 pic.twitter.com/NgI7udIcWA

If I may ask unc can you plz explain how Jalen hurts is playing better football than Josh Allen if he’s playing with a worst line and have a way harden schedule than the eagles and got more total yards and tds

You know something!! Hasn’t happened in over 20 years

Josh Allen and Joe Burrow found some votes too. However, no regular season MVP has won the Super Bowl in 20 years. And Eagles’ fans are not that concerned about Jalen Hurts landing the award. They want the franchise’s second world championship.
