Rob Gronkowski has solidified two things in his legacy. He is a 4x time Super Bowl champion and a top 5 TE of all time on the field, and an absolute party animal off it. Time and time again, we’ve heard stories of Gronk’s wild parties. But after his former teammate’s mid-season partying claims, Julian Edelman had to come out and clear the air about his champion friend.

Over the years, there have been many instances and claims of Gronkowski indulging in parties and ragers. But his ex-teammate, Jake Bequette, recently made claims about Gronk partying during the season prior to practices. Edelman, having served in the championship-winning Patriots teams alongside Gronk and Tom Brady, decided to come to his friend’s rescue.

Edelman and Gronk paired up to create nightmares for opposing defenses for nearly 9 seasons. But even in their retirement, Edelman came to defend his friend after reports of Gronk’s over-indulgence with partying. Edelman responded to an article by Fox News, in which former Patriots DE Jake Bequette claimed that Gronkowski would spend nights before practices partying, and pass out on practice tables the next day.

Edelman called out the claims by Bequette to be absolutely false. The WR came to Gronk’s defense, and claimed that Gronk was always a dedicated teammate in practice. Given the resume of the two and their winning history, it’s hard to dispute Edelman’s claims about his friend.

The friendship between New England’s deadliest trio

Julian Edelman’s defense of Gronk isn’t out of the blue. Alongside Gronkowski and the GOAT Tom Brady, Edelman combined to form one of the deadliest offensive trios of the century. The sight of the three on the field was enough to strike fear into any opposing defense’s heart. They combined to win 3 Super Bowls together, and were the central cog to the Patriots dominance in the 2010s. But their relationship didn’t end there.

The friendship between Brady and Gronk has been well documented over the years, especially after the TE came out of retirement to join Brady on his Super Bowl quest in Tampa Bay. Barring Edelman’s knee injuries, perhaps we may have seen the trio win their 4th Super Bowl with the Bucs. Even so, the trio eventually did reunite, after they convened for a day out at the beach earlier this year. After a decade of success together, Brady, Gronk and Edelman continue to share their bond off the field.
