LaMelo Ball has had a sensational rookie season. He was unsurprisingly named the 2021 Rookie of the Year. He followed it up with another impressive outing in his second year as he got a chance to play at the All-Star game, albeit as a backup. Although, it is not just his scoring prowess that has won him these accolades.
LaMelo has proven that he has terrific game sense and court vision. He finds players in tight spots and throws perfect dimes. And that is just what happened during a recent regular-season match. LaMelo threw a nasty ¾ Court Alley-Oop to Miles Bridges, and Bridges threw it down with just as much intensity.

The ¾ court insane pass combined with the intense throwdown garnered many reactions from fans. The comment section was filled with people expressing their disbelief at the precision with which LaMelo delivered the Alley-Oop.
Witty fans chime in
Generally, such precision is reserved for other positions in the sporting world. For instance, the quarterback in the NFL. And thus, fans started suggesting that LaMelo should have been a QB and thrown dimes on the green field instead of the court.
A fan in the comments section of the YouTube video said, “He should have been a qb.” While there was another who took it a step further and said, “The Jaguars should’ve drafted him instead of T-Law.”
Indeed, these are jokes, and Trevor Lawrence has just had the one ‘dysfunctional’ season with the Jaguars. But it is a fun take on LaMelo as arguably he could have been just as successful at playing the QB position.

He is tall, athletic, and has an eye for the players down the field. Sure, many other things go into being that great at throwing a football, but it seems like LaMelo has most of the fundamentals required.

It is just a fun thought exercise for fans who follow both the NBA and the NFL. Football players want to throw down slam dunks. And we have also seen basketball players acting like QBs and receivers during practice and warmups.

Allen Iverson, Lebron James, and even Joe Burrow from the other side have dabbled in football and basketball. So, there are synergies and commonalities in both these sports. We are reminded of them when someone like Lamelo throws it down three-fourths of the court. And Miles Bridges, on the other end, times his jump to perfection. Making for a memorable highlight play for the fans.
