AFC South franchise Jacksonville Jaguars ended their 2020 NFL campaign on a disappointing note with a 1-15 record. They’ve undergone a major management and squad overhaul since the appointment of college football legend Urban Meyer earlier this year.
The Jaguars own the #1 pick at this year’s NFL Draft. They have their heart reportedly set on Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Coach Meyer was at Lawrence’s Pro Day last month and is keeping in touch with the youngster who recently underwent shoulder surgery on his non-throwing arm.

Ahead of his debut season as an NFL Head Coach, Meyer is having to learn a thing or two. But one process that has not gone down well with the former Ohio State boss is ‘free agency’.

Speaking to the media at a recent press conference, coach Urban Meyer spoke about the NFL free agency process and how it has been a rather ‘forgettable’ experience for him in his first year in the big league.
He said, “Yeah, that was awful. I don’t agree with it, but no one asked my opinion. I guess in the old days you could bring them in and meet them, have dinner with them, you find out the football intellect, find out their character.
“The thing you don’t [do], I found out, is call someone who has skin in the game because they’re going to not quite — I don’t see honest as a very appropriate [word]. So we did a deep dive. Every guy that we signed, we did.

“To answer your question, that was awful, and I don’t believe it should be that way. Not when you’re making organizational decisions. I’m not sure how that rule came about, but to me that’s not good business,” Meyer told press personnel.
A few of their free-agent signings this summer include Roy Robertson-Harris, Rayshawn Jenkins, and Shaquill Griffin. Coach Meyer and his team of professionals are doing everything to ensure that Lawrence has sufficient attacking options at his disposal when the season starts in September.

They still have time to offload the enigmatic Gardner Minshew. However, only time will if they opt to let their experienced quarterback depart.
