However, the chants get to him. Students who shouted “You’re not Patrick!” did not necessarily bother him. But it was the weight of the name that got to him. “I loved basketball, I played it for so long, but I wasn’t in love with it when I had the opportunity to go to college,” Jackson said. “So, after that, I was very, like, lonely, upset. I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life.” He then turned his focus to making content on social media.

Jackson Mahomes felt the need to establish himself

Since his childhood, he lived under the shadow of his father, Pat Mahomes, a retired MLB player, and Patrick Mahomes II, chief QB of Kansas City. Therefore, the 22-year-old felt like he should make an identity away from his very famous family.

Thus, making content on TikTok and establishing his own clothing line, named ‘UNATHLETIC’, offered him the chance to express himself. “I’ll never forget the first time that I was at a football game or at a store when people came up to me noticing me as Jackson from TikTok and not just Patrick Mahomes’ brother.”
