During an interview in April, this year, Allen reflected on his experiences from the previous season, describing it as physically and emotionally draining. However, he emphasized that despite the challenges, he always approached each game with a refreshing mindset. Allen further stated that he is currently more focused and locked in on football than ever before. This statement caught a lot of attention, leading to various speculations. Without wasting a second, host Kyle Brandt directly asked Allen about the reasons behind his earlier statement.

?I don?t like losing at all,? Allen replied. He explained that the past couple of years were crucial for him and his team, as they could win and had several opportunities. However, they could not capitalize on those chances, ultimately falling short of their goal. ?Every year again you want to win the Super Bowl. That?s our main goal, but there?s more that I could be doing,? Allen continued. Whether it’s watching movies for inspiration, hitting the gym to strengthen his physicality, or honing his throwing skills, Allen expressed his willingness to explore different avenues to enhance his performance.

He simply wants to see how everything unfolds and assess the impact of his additional efforts. ?I?ve relied so heavily on talent,? Allen added. He admitted he hadn’t been watching films or engaging in activities he enjoys. He acknowledged that when he steps onto the field, he becomes ?a reactionary player?, and that aspect is a defining part of his identity as a quarterback. However, he acknowledged that there are still areas he needs to improve upon. He emphasized the importance of utilizing every opportunity to grow and evolve, striving to become the best quarterback he can be.

Allen had disappointing seasons in previous years

The Buffalo Bills Super Bowl aspirations were thwarted last season as they suffered a defeat in the AFC Divisional Round against Cincinnati Bengals, with a final score of 27-10. This loss closed their window of opportunity to win the championship. The Bills also had previously faced defeat against the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 AFC Championship game and the 2021 AFC Divisional matchup.

In the match, Mahomes completed 25 of 40 passes for 338 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, while Allen threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns, providing stiff competition. However, Mahomes’ ill-advised throw turned the tide against the Chiefs. In a crucial moment of the game, Mahomes made a regrettable decision, resulting in an interception that sealed his loss to Allen and his team. Despite the defeat, Patrick and Allen share a deep friendship. Patrick once expressed his utmost respect for Josh, acknowledging that even though they compete against each other, there is a strong bond between them.
