Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen came through when he was most needed. With time running out on the board, Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs’ connection allowed the perfect setup for Tyler Bass’ game-winning field goal. The Bills won by a whisker over the Detroit Lions, with a 28-25 finish.

The score was tied until the last moments. But Josh Allen looked like he did not want to spend another extra minute and made sure the Bills weren’t heading into overtime. But, statistically, Allen didn’t have the best game. The quarterback is still suffering from a sore elbow, which may be holding him back from performing his best.

Josh Allen may have delivered a victory, but how bothersome is his elbow going to be?

Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discussed the quarterback’s performance on their show, ‘UNDISPUTED.’ While there is no doubt Allen showed up for his team when it mattered, the inconsistency he showed seems to be of concern.

Sharpe said“I know he’s been banged up, and he’s paying through some things but he found a way, had another horrible interception again…it’s the red zone. It’s taking minimum Skip, it’s taking points off the board…couple of times he’s throwing interceptions in the end zone.” Allen’s interception against the Lions came when the quarterback was trying to once again target Diggs. “It’s pretty horrendous, what he did, and that’s six out of seven games. He has turned it over in the red zone. That one got popped up in the air,” Bayles added. Is Josh Allen throwing too many red zone interceptions? In four of the Bills’ last five games, the quarterback has thrown interceptions. Allen also takes the crown for the most red-zone picks in the league.

Allen and the Bills can’t get too comfortable

The Bills also have other things to worry about apart from Allen’s iffy arm. Their defensive star Von Miller suffered a knee injury and did not return to the field after making his exit in the first half. Allen believes that the Bills gave themselves a chance towards the end of the game. But the quarterback did not hesitate to mention their lack of performance during the second half. “You know, [sic] second half, didn’t play great footfall, I wouldn’t say we played great football, but we found a way.”

The quarterback believes that his squad was very resilient. He also appreciated them for stepping up when it was needed the most. The Buffalo Bills are now at an impressive 8-3. They have moved to the top of the AFC East. But, the Bills can’t get too comfortable in their top spot. The team is being chased by a divisional rival, the Miami Dolphins who are in a close second place. They will take on the New England Patriots in their next bout. The Bills mafia will hope for their team to bring home a third straight victory.
