Moreover, with the growing social media trends, teams have new ideas up on their sleeve to rally the fans. While there could be an element of nostalgia associated with certain teams.

Currently, one of the NFL teams has a past name. The team surely gained popularity by the earlier name. Fans being fans have been hopeful of the side reinvoling their previous name. However, going by the latest developments, the top management has responded to the claims. With less than a week remaining for the NFL season, fans are itching to see their teams in action. The capital side is also making a run for their money and there’s some hotly contested debate regarding the same.

Jason Wright says “no” to changing the team’s name

The year 2022 was an ordinary one for all NFL teams barring one. Washington Commanders as the team is called now had a previous name. One of the oldest established teams went by the name Redskins for nearly 90 years. However, when the term was deemed “derogatory” the management opted for a new name.

Speaking to the radio station 106.7, the Commanders’ president voiced his opinions. “It’s not being considered. Period” The debate ending remark by Jason Wright denied any name changes. However, in July this year, there were some speculations that a name change was in the cards. Now, the focus changes as a new linebacker joins the squad.

Jabril Cox’s inclusion in the squad has mixed reactions

The Commanders apart from struggling with a team name have another issue. In their playing field, the side was on the lookout for a competent linebacker ever since A-Rod mocked the team’s defense. Commanders shocked everyone when they added ex-Dallas Jabril Cox to the mix.

His inclusion saw mixed reactions from pundits and fans around. One of the fans was happy about the inclusion. “I like the Jabril Cox add to the PS in Wahington.”  “Hey! Someone new! Liked Jabril Cox coming out of college. Interesting add to the practice squad.” One of the fans gave a logical reason for the inclusion. “Have to think Jabril Cox took 1 look at the Commanders LB depth chart and thought they offer the best chance at playing time.”

Washington Commanders have made some noticeable changes. Yes, it’s not their name but rather in their squad. Teams are looking to double up on their defensive and offensive arsenal to start the season on a positive note. Hope this change brings in good fortune for the Commanders.
