Aaron Rodgers is the “belle of the ball” and going to be the “king of New York”, as per his dear friend Pat McAfee. In a surprise visit to the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers sat down to reveal he’s “having a ball” availing the many benefits of moving from Green Bay to New York.

After the initial frenzy is done with and Aaron Rodgers finishes naming the grand list of celebrities he met during the Knicks game (well, it includes Martha Stewart, Spike Lee and Jack Harlow was sitting beside him), the New Jets QB talked about some real x and o’s.

Running an offense for 18 years comes with its own baggage. And Rodgers is no different. On McAfee’s Tuesday show itself, Peyton Manning talked about Rodgers’ familiar situation of unfamiliarity in a new offense with New York. Manning notes it is difficult to move from one offense to another if they try to teach the QB a new cadence, or try and make them unlearn all that they’ve learned over the years. Which could naturally happen for someone going to a completely new offense.

But for Rodgers, things looked bright as he went to work under Nathaniel Hackett, with whom he shares a relationship from Green Bay days. That’s where he starts refuting the problem stated by Manning. The Dark Retreat lover accepted he’s changing things to match his style. First and foremost, he said he has a “deep familiarity with Coach Hack’s Offense and everything he wants to do”.

And he agrees that there is a certain learning curve, saying, “there’s a few new terms that’s he’s (Coach Hackett) has changed, but actually for the better, simplification of some formations and changing the verbiage so it makes more sense to him, so its learning little things like that.”

But the part that Peyton Manning hinted turns things sour, Aaron Rodgers has smartly kept his own. He continues, “But cadence, it’s gonna be my cadence, the one I’ve used all my career”

And cadence is nothing but the numbers and phrases used by the quarterback to communicate the plays with his team. During huddles, outside, it’s the main bridge of communication on which the offense walks.

Thus, Rodgers has accepted that things have aligned for him. He even got his old College jersey number for this team. And even his teammate Allen Lazard is right there with him, a neighbour in the locker room and partner in crime on the field.

Even though the starving Jets fanbase has accepted the ‘psychedelic’ quarterback as their saviour, it’s been a while since Aaron Rodgers proved himself on the grand stages. And with a team perfectly equipped with enough freshness and familiarity, it makes the job even easier for Rodgers. Even after all this, a ringless second stint will be a real doozy, to say the least.
