For any NFL rookie, playing and being around the likes of Aaron Rodgers is a huge boost. And learning from them is a dream of many. But what happens when a young player reaches close to Rodgers when joining the Green Bay Packers? A Packers rookie and breakout star of the season opened up on the mentorship he got from the iconic QB.

Romeo Doubs established himself as a reliable target for Rodgers this season. And the rookie wide receiver revealed what the QB mostly talks about in the Packers building.

The Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs never hangs out with his QB Aaron Rodgers. Speaking on the CBS radio show ‘Maggie & Perloaf’, Doubs said that Rodgers’ conversations with him are always about football.

“I didn’t get a chance to hang out with him. As far as being around 12, I’d say it’s possibly always been football. So, I mean in the building, on the practice field there was never time,” Doubs said.

Doubs then recalled one time he spent time with Rodgers that wasn’t about football. And for the rookie WR, that was really cool.

“We had a team get together for Halloween, I thought that was pretty cool,” Doubs added.

The rookies need all the football knowledge they can get. And Rodgers makes sure that they aren’t distracted by anything and remain focused. Such a mentorship will only benefit the newcomers. And the hanging out part will surely come later.

Doubs broke out on the scene this season and became a primary target for the Packers QB. And he was one of the few positives for the franchise in an otherwise frustrating season.

The Packers rebuild

The Packers lost wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders at the start of the 2022 season. So they mostly used their rookie receiving corps in a step toward a rebuild. But it wasn’t a smooth sail at all.

The Packers missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018. And Aaron Rodgers’ performance dropped due to the new and inexperienced receiving corps. His injuries throughout the season also didn’t help. Rodgers threw 3,695 yards and 26 passing touchdowns. He also threw 12 interceptions, a high tally for the QB’s own standards in the NFL.

Romeo Doubs scored three touchdowns in his rookie year. The wide receiver caught 42 times for a total of 425 yards. The Packers had an 8-9 overall record and finished third in the NFC North. With rumors of Rodgers stepping away from the team, will the Packers need to go full throttle on a rebuild?
