The National Football League is a big market where the talents make loads of money. For the young rookies, playing in their first season and getting paychecks every week is a dream come true. Former Panthers QB Cam Newton recently explained what it was like to earn millions at a young age.

Newton was just 20 when he was drafted as the No 1 pick in the 2011 NFL draft. Needless to say, being a quarterback and receiving trust from the team as a first-round selection comes with immense responsibilities.

The same did for the salary cap as well. While speaking on a talk show, the veteran revealed his excitement about signing a massive $22 million four-year fully guaranteed contract with an NFL team.

“My rookie deal, it was capped. Right? And it was $22 million, all guaranteed,” he said on the show. “And Drake had a song out, ’25 sittin’ on $25 mill’ and I was like, ‘I’m 20 years old, sitting on $22 mill, you feel me?” Newton added to his explanation.

He also had a $14 million signing bonus included in the contract. More than the bonus, Newton was amazed by the green digits being added every week to his account balance.

“It wasn’t the signing bonus that gave me that rush. It was that every Tuesday when you looked at that account and when you have seen that plus or that green number that’s coming in. I was looking at $732,000… a game,” Newton said.
