In a recent interview at ‘I am Athlete’, an NFL Insider raised the question of whether the trade of Aaron Rodgers to the Jets could have been avoided. The insider pointed out that while the timing of the trade may have been premature, the Packers’ decision to start thinking about future QB Jordan Love after Rodgers was not unfounded.

The Jets received quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a 2023 first-round pick (No. 15 overall), and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170 overall) in exchange for multiple draft picks. The Packers got a 2023 first-round pick (No. 13), a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42), a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207), and a 2024 conditional second-round pick. Has Green Bay Packers’ era come to an end, and does this trade mark the end of a significant chapter in Aaron Rodgers’ life?

Ashley Nicole from ‘I am Athlete’ argues that while it’s understandable for the Packers to think about their future [Jordan Love] after having a 39-year-old quarterback [Aaron Rodgers], the lack of transparency and the timing of the decision could be blamed.

Nicole said, “I can’t blame them for the timing of it. I think it was premature. Can’t blame the Packers for starting to think about the future and that’s what they did with Jordan Love. I can blame them for the lack of transparency that Aaron Rodgers alluded to when that situation went down.”

However, thinking about life post-Aaron Rodgers is inevitable, and it’s something that happens with quarterbacks throughout history. “It happened with Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. It’s happened with quarterbacks throughout the history of the sport.”

Brett Favre is a legendary quarterback who had a remarkable career spanning two decades. Favre took the Packers to 2 Super Bowls, winning 1. He was later traded to the Jets in 2008 after a disagreement with the Packers’ management, for draft picks.

Who won the trade? Jets or the Packers? Well, here’s the answer.

Did the Jets really win the Aaron Rodgers trade?

If the Jets don’t win a Super Bowl, they may have ultimately lost out, despite getting a generational talent like Aaron Rodgers. Currently, it seems that the Jets have come out on top with this trade. Additionally, if Rodgers suddenly decides to retire, it may hurt the Jets badly.

“If the Jets don’t win a Super Bowl, then they lost it,” Ashley mentioned.

However, the Packers selected Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft as their potential future starting quarterback.
