Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has been grabbing a lot of headlines recently and it was all for the wrong reasons. According to an article in ‘The Athletic’, Wilson tried to fire Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider during his decline with the Seattle team. According to reports, he wanted Sean Payton to become the HC of the Seahawks. However, things did not go as per Wilson’s plans, as the Hawks traded him to the Broncos. Recently, an NFL Insider talked about the issue and gave it clarity.

Wilson and his team denied all the accusations, as the 34-year-old QB took to Twitter and expressed his feelings. Meanwhile, NFL insider Ian Rapoport appeared on the Pat McAfee show and provided much-needed insight into the whole saga.

While talking to McAfee, Rapoport said, I can’t independently confirm that Russell Wilson tried to get Pete Carroll and John Schneider fired… However, it was clear it was not working at the end and he wanted something different. Now, did he want them to be fired, I don’t know, I wish I knew.

“He either wanted out or something to change… Clearly, he did not think his future was in that group in Seattle and it wasn’t; they traded him,” the NFL insider further said.

It is worth noting that Wilson signed a $245 million contract for five years with the Broncos. Last season, he had a terrible outing with the Denver team, as they finished last in the AFC West. Despite Wilson’s terrible performances, head coach Nathaniel Hackett suffered the sack. Right now, former Saints’ HC, Sean Payton joined the Broncos team as the head coach, which reportedly Wilson wanted while he was with the Seahawks. Certainly, Wilson got his wish in his current team.

Payton and Wilson met for dinner during the Super Bowl week

During the Super Bowl week, Payton met with Wilson, his wife Ciara, and with former NFL QB and Hall of Famer Joe Montana at a restaurant in Scottsdale. They appeared to be in a really good mood, as Payton will be coaching the QB real soon.

Meanwhile, Wilson received a lot of facilities last season from the Broncos by having his own personal office, parking spot, and coaching staff. When asked about Wilson having his own coaching staff, Payton said, “That’s not going to take place here. I’m not familiar with it, but our staff will be here, our players will be here and that’ll be it.”
