It is official, Tyreek Hill is on his way out of the Kansas City Chiefs. The wide receiver has found a new home in Miami. The Dolphins have traded five picks over the course of two drafts for Hill. For the fastest wide receiver in the NFL, that price is totally worth it.

Kansas received a first- and second-round, number 29 and 50 along with a fourth-round pick. They also got a fourth- and sixth-round pick from the 2023 NFL draft. These picks can be crucial for the Chiefs in order to rebuild their roster. But it seems like getting the picks were not the only reason behind trading Hill away. The Chiefs GM reveals some friction between the receiver and the franchise that might have led to the trade.
Did Davante Adams inspire the Tyreek Hill trade?
In the NFL, one thing always leads to another. So it should come as no surprise that Davante Adams might have inspired Tyreek Hill. Green Bay traded Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders signed Adams on a five-year deal worth $140 million, of which $66 million are guaranteed. The trade made him the highest-paid receiver in the league.

According to sources, Tyreek Hill wanted the Chiefs to top the Davante Adams deal. He wanted to be the highest-paid receiver in the league. Hill already is the fastest player in the NFL, so according to him, this seemed fair. Friction grew between both sides. Nobody was prepared to budge. But at the end of the day, the Chiefs granted Hill permission to seek a trade. And as we all know, the Dolphins have signed the WR for a blockbuster deal.

“It’s hard to put into words what Tyreek has meant to Chiefs Kingdom over the last six years,” said the Chiefs GM. “He’s a special player, one of the best in franchise history. He’s been a large part of our success, including our Super Bowl championship run. This decision was incredibly difficult, but we felt it was a necessary move in the best interest of the team, and also for Tyreek. We wish him the best as he continues his career.”
