The Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers matchup brewed into what looked like the rivalry of the postseason. The Wild Card game had a controversial moment when Deebo Samuel got hurt in an unsportsmanlike play. Despite the WR’s plea, the officials did not call any flags over the action. The moment left the 49ers’ roster and HC Kyle Shanahan irate.

The moment surfaced during the second half of the Hawks-Niners Wild Card game. Brock Purdy completed a 21-yard pass to Deebo Samuel on the first drive, but Seahawks DB Johnathan Abram toppled the receiver. After the play ended, Abram stood up while holding Samuel’s leg and twisted it slightly. Samuel was upset since the officials did not give out a flag.

The Deebo Samuel incident led to both sides chipping into a heated confrontation. The medical staff had to remove the WR from the game river injury concern. Kyle Shanahan said that the moment left the 49ers’ camp furious. The head coach said, “I think it pissed our team off and I think you could feel our team react to that after.”

It is safe to say that the Seahawks made a mistake after their cheap shot against Deebo Samuel. Shanahan must be happy with how things panned out after the incident. The team continued their drive and had five consecutive run calls to gain the advantage. The Bay Area franchise maintained its top spot, leading to a 41–23 victory.

Deebo Samuel came off a sprained MCL and competed like a boss in the crucial Wild Card game. But the Seahawks kept his leg as a target and tried to injure him again. DB Abram also took the chance, but it backfired. Moreover, despite the frustration, Samuel was proficient and reacted little after the play.

In the post-game media scrum, Deebo said, “I stayed down a little because I almost lost my temper. And you can see the definition of our team is IGYB: I got your back.”

The Sweet Feet got his revenge in the 4th quarter after connecting with Brock Purdy. He blitz’d for a 74-yard score and kept the 49ers’ lead consistent for the win.
