Just days after Tom Brady comes out of his cocoon for some action, sources could confirm that Shaq Mason is heading to Tampa Bay. For Mason, it would be a sense of home knowing TB12 is around. He has been teammates with Brady from 2015 through 2019 and has gained experience during their playoffs.

The Buccaneers’ guard was recently heard on SiriusXM NFL Radio, giving his thoughts when the New England Patriots traded him to Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It initially shocked him, but he had no harsh feelings towards the franchise. But Mason is now delighted to work and share a locker room alongside his old pal, Tom Brady. Moreover, it looks like he is giving the GOAT credits for his development in the position.

Mason explains, “It means the world. I was with him my first five seasons. It’s great being back with him. He demands the best from everyone around him. You know what you are getting from him day in and day out. Couldn’t ask to be around a better guy.”

Shaq officially joins an already elite defensive lineup that includes three Pro Bowlers from 2021. His addition is like a last flourish in the safety net of the quarterback, who is looking to make a push for his eighth Super Bowl ring.

What credence does Shaq Mason carry to the Bucs’ defense given his history with Tom Brady?

After Ali Marpet’s retirement, the Bucs’ defense had some potholes to fill in. But now, the Pewter Pirates, the defensive lineup, and Tom Brady are happy. Shaq Mason brings in the seasoned experience the roster needs. As a fourth-round pick in the 2015 Draft, Mason came in strong. In 103 appearances, he started 98 games for the New England Patriots.

Shaq’s aptitude as a run defender emerges incredibly well with the Buccaneers. He provides the roster defense with a seasoned, proficient run tackler who can work in various roll ploys. Alongside Mac Jones, Mason had another successful season blocking passes last year. The guard is aware of what he must do because Brady is an old friend.
