Arizona Cardinals’ Chandler Jones had a stellar 2019 season. In that season, he tallied 19 sacks and an NFL-high eight forced fumbles. In that season, the pass rusher was named All-Pro. At that point, Arizona Cardinals’ five-year, $82.5 million contract looked worth the money.
Cut to the next season, the 31-year-old had a season to forget. Thanks to a bicep injury, Chandler Jones was sidelined early in the season. Due to this, he missed 11 matches which ruined his entire season. Though he has started this season with a bang, the Cardinals have not extended the 31-year-old’s contract [who will become a free agent next year].

Arizona Coach Kliff Kingsbury heaped praise on Chandler Jones and the way he’s handling his contract extension. “You saw what type of talent he is. He knows what he is. I know he wants more money, and he’s probably deserving of it. It’s part of the business. But the way he’s handling himself and the way he’s treating his teammates and coaches, it’s phenomenal.”
Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim also echoed similar sentiments but also emphasized future planning during an appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s “Burns & Gambo” show, via the team’s website. “We’re not in the business of moving on and getting rid of good football players. You always want to get good players under contract, but there are always a million different moving parts,” he added. “I have to continue to look at the roster moving forward, generally from a three-year standpoint.”
