The NFL is a highly competitive league, where physicality and mentality both play a huge role in success. While the players and teams go all in, catching the glory for themselves and their fans. However, there are a few moments which bring this whole mechanism of push and pull to a halt. Something similar happened in the case of Damar Hamlin. The Buffalo Bills safety collapsed on the field after making a tackle on Bengals WR Tee Higgins, on Monday. The player suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and after resuscitating him on the ground the player has been in a hospital. Obviously, the players all across the league have been shaken up by Monday’s incident. Even Patrick Mahomes has shared the level of impact of this tragedy.

During the Wednesday press conference, the QB reflected on the events that occurred earlier this week. “I think it affects everyone in this league,” Mahomes said. “We go out there every week. I’m not gonna say we take it for granted, but you go out there and you play a game that you love and you just enjoy it. You don’t think about things like that happening and whenever something like this happens, I think it impacts everybody,” he added.

According to the 27-year-old, watching it live on TV was harrowing enough. He could not imagine what players on the field must have gone through. “I mean, it sent chills through my body when I was watching it. All I did was just sit there and pray for him. That’s all you can do when you feel like you can’t help,” Mahomes said.

A timely reminder

The NFL has gone through 17 weeks this season and the playoff is right around the corner. The Bengals vs Bills was a critical game for the seedings. If the Bills had won the game, they would have reclaimed their No 1 seed in the AFC. While the Chiefs were expecting them to drop a match and let the Kansas team have the bye week.
