It was a dream come true moment for Jalen Hurts to defeat the Texans in his hometown. With this win, the Eagles have improved their season record to 8-0 and scripted the franchise record going undefeated for eight games straight. The quarterback went ecstatic about the win however didn’t want to ruin the moment by being over-excited.
The gunslinger is eying for a Super Bowl, and this undefeated streak doesn’t mean anything special to him. Because, in the end, it’s about chasing the ultimate title. However, Thursday’s game against the Texans was quite special. Growing up in Houston, the youngster always wanted to play in the NRG Stadium.

However, it remained an unfulfilled dream until it came to fruition in Week 9 of the 2022 season. While speaking to the reporters after the game, he was asked to comment on his competitive attitude and mindset that he carries forward.
The quarterback mentioned that it all comes from the city. Being able to play against the home team and beating them happened to be a cherishing moment.
“I think it comes from my childhood, here in this city, growing up in Houston, Texas.” Hurts said. “Just seeing the game being around the game. It allowed me to enjoy everything that goes with the game, and I respect the process,” he added.
Well, it was a great 29-17 victory, with Hurts contributing two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He finished 21-of-27 for 243 yards and connected with star wideout AJ Brown for several game-winning plays in the second half.
There was a moment when the fans thought the result would go either way, with Houston bullying the Eagles’ defensive line with aggressive plays. But in the end, Hurts made sure to keep the momentum towards their side.

The season is not over and Hurts understands this very well. Before the game, when reporters asked him about his excitement, the youngster mentioned that it was a business trip. He wanted to keep it that way.
“I think going back to Houston should be fun,” the MVP candidate said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play in NRG/Reliant Stadium. I’ve spent a lot of time in that city, my childhood growing up in Houston, going to watch the Texans play, being in the Texans facility as a kid, going to watch high school playoff games in that stadium and not having the opportunity to play in it,” he added.

As a high school player, Hurts played for his father at Channelview. Since then, he has come a long way. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain the streak and wrap up with a perfect record.
