During a recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Deion Sanders made a guest appearance. Sports analyst Rich Eisen inquired about Sanders potentially choosing an NFL coaching career. Sanders responded with a concise five-word message reaffirming his commitment to his Colorado team, “I would never do that.” He elaborated, saying, “I love college. I love that the young men are still impressionable. They’re not so financially wealthy that they can’t hear you.

Sanders added, “At the next level, some of these guys make so much money they can’t hear. They can’t hear or they can’t see the things that they need to see and hear. I would have a hard time motivating a man that makes upwards of 20 and 30 and sometimes 40 million dollars to go out there and do your job. I got a problem with that.” Sanders made it clear that, if the opportunity arose in the future, he would decline an NFL coaching offer, as he intends to remain a college football coach, at least for now with the Buffs.

Deion Sanders had his eyes set on an NFL job before accepting the post of head coach for a collegiate football team. In 2003, Sanders hoped for a chance from his former team Falcons, as owner Arthur Blank. He thought that he is one of the best potential coaches for the position after the Falcons’ 1-6 record at the halfway point of the season. Moreover, he knew that Dan Reeves, the team’s then-head coach, may not be around for much longer with the team.

Hence, he saw this as the right opportunity to support the Falcons. Sanders was working for CBS at the time after retiring from the NFL. The former NFL player was sure he could have an instant beneficial influence on the Falcons if employed by Atlanta. In an interview, he stated, “I can make them a better team, and I know that because I know the things that really need to be done there.” However, this deal couldn’t make it, and Sanders had to rest his hopes.
