After an entire season of waiting, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love finally got his first NFL start. The QB who was drafted back in 2020 by the franchise had to sit out his rookie campaign on the sidelines thanks to the renaissance of Aaron Rodgers.

As Rodgers rolled back the clock to put on an MVP season, people wondered as to when Jordan Love would get his first taste of NFL football. And on Sunday, Love finally got his chance.

With Aaron Rodgers to sit out the entirety of the side’s preseason games, young QB Jordan Love finally got his time to shine when the Packers took on the Houston Texans in their opening preseason tie.

But unfortunately for Love, his debut was cut short after picking up a knock late in the second quarter. Subsequently taken off, the quarterback is likely to miss out on some more preseason action.

So what does this mean for the Packers? And more importantly, what does this mean for Jordan Love?

Love might not have a future with the Green Bay Packers

During a segment of KJZ, NFL analyst Alan Hahn dished out his take on the Jordan Love scenario and how his debut played out.

“Jordan Love’s injury, that’s the first thing that came out of his start. Well, he did look good. He hasn’t played since the Senior Bowl which was back in February 2020… So he hasn’t played in a live-action game in over a year and a half so for him just to get action was important,” said Hahn.

But despite Love’s steady start, Hahn feels the quarterback might never end up having a future at Green Bay. The reason? Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers front office are desperate to hold on to Aaron Rodgers. From reworking his contract to trading for former Packers wide receiver Randal Cobb, Rodgers is currently calling the shots.

And if he continues to put on the performances he did in 2020, there’s no way Love is dislodging Rodgers as the Packers’ QB1.

“With Aaron Rodgers getting everything he wants right now including perhaps even Clay Matthews coming back if he’s there for good then Jordan loves never really going to be part of the future of this franchise,” said Hahn.

It is true that if Rodgers stays at Green Bay, then Jordan Love might have to start looking elsewhere to pursue his dreams of being an NFL starter. But all of that depends on whether or not Aaron Rodgers decides to stay beyond the 2021 NFL season.
