Former Colts center and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday joined as the interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts and got his first win on Sunday. Jeff joined former Colts Punter Pat McAfee on his show and shared his feelings after an emotional first win. “This group changed my life,” Saturday said.
The NFL world didn’t take Jeff Saturday seriously
Many former players, coaches, and experts doubted Colts owner Jim Irsay when he appointed the Super Bowl-winning former center as the head coach. However, Jeff Saturday is well on his way to proving everyone wrong after a strong 25-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on SNF.
The majority of the doubt everyone had about Jeff Saturday stemmed from the fact that Saturday had never coached an NFL franchise or a college team. The only coaching experience the 6x Pro Bowler had was with a Georgia high school where he spent 3 seasons. Jeff thanked the Indianapolis Colts players, coaches, and the entire organization for helping him fit in and deal with the negativity in the past weeks.
“It’s not just the players and coaches. This is an organization, a community that I love,” Saturday said. Before joining as the interim HC, Jeff Saturday was actively involved during the Colts training camp as a consultant and special assistant.
