Tom Brady kicked up quite a storm in the media when he announced his decision to jump ship to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this year. The six-time NFL Super Bowl winner ended his 20-year-long association with the New England Patriots in the hunt for a new challenge.

However, another former Patriots player who made waves in the offseason was the popular tight end, Rob Gronkowski. ‘The Gronk’ had announced his decision to retire from football in 2018 after spending eight years with the Patriots.

In that period, Gronkowski won three Super Bowl titles while playing under Bill Belichick’s feared offense.

Ian Rapoport talks about Rob Gronkowski’s unforeseen move to Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Without a doubt, it’s been a crazy offseason for NFL players this year. The Tom Brady deal, the Dak Prescott saga, and the ongoing Jamal Adams trade issue are just some of the highlights from the 2020 offseason.

Rob Gronkowski’s return from retirement after a two-year-long hiatus also made headlines earlier this year. The five-time Pro Bowler is one of football’s most popular personalities. He also enjoyed a short stint in the WWE after his NFL retirement.

‘The Gronk’ is the only tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 or more yards in the postseason. When he retired in 2018, Gronkowski cited his struggle with injuries as the major reason behind his decision.

Rob is back because of Tom Brady, says Gordon Gronkowski

Of course, Rob Gronkowski vehemently refuted any rumors that claimed that he had planned his move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Tom Brady. However, the tight end’s father, Gordon Gronkowski, had a differing opinion regarding the same.

“The bottom line, Rob is back in my opinion because of Tom Brady. I mean, Tom called him, and Tom got in his ear, and I’m sure Rob probably didn’t go out the way he wanted to,” Gordon told the Tampa Bay Times.
