The Seattle Seahawks were going pretty smoothly in their last two games with back-to-back wins. However, Metcalf’s hip injury puts him on a questionable start list against the Panthers on Sunday. Quarterback Geno Smith will find himself at a lack of a dependable wide receiver without DK Metcalf.
Adam Schefter reported the unfortunate news for the Seahawks’ fans. Head coach Pete Carroll cleared DK Metcalf for the Carolina Panthers game. However, there is no concrete statement about his availability. DK’s troubling hip injuries create some irreplaceable problems for the Seahawks.

Metcalf recorded a season-high performance against the Los Angeles Rams last week. DK held on to 8 receptions on the night over 127 yards and one touchdown. This was his second 100-yard plus receiving game this season after Week 13.
Metcalf was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round as a high-grade prospect out of Ole Miss. The wide receiver set the franchise record for most receiving yards in his debut match with 89 yards.
How crucial is DK Metcalf to the Seattle offense for QB Geno Smith?
The Seattle Seahawks have been the major surprise package this season. After Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson left for the Denver Broncos in the off-season, Seattle fans were quite neutral about the future of the franchise. However, Geno Smith transitioned from a backup quarterback to the face of the franchise in just a few months.

And the entire NFL community didn’t expect this turnaround by the Seattle offense. A major part of this turnaround offense has been wide receivers, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Lockett also went 128 yards and a touchdown in the 27-23 win against the Rams. However, the highlight of the Seattle-LA matchup was definitely the Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey matchup. DK waved a route and threw off 2021 Pro Bowler Ramsey in the game on Sunday. Kenneth Walker is pulling the Seattle run offense masterfully and wide receiver DK’s help is essential for Geno and the offense.

All-Pro Metcalf will look to provide some catching assists to Geno on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. DK caught the inside route to catch the winning TD against the Rams. However, if Metcalf doesn’t show up, Lockett has to beat the pressure of all the responsibilities.
