During the 49ers’ 31-10 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams at Levi’s Stadium on Monday Night Football, Warriors forward Draymond Green appeared on ESPN’s Manningcast. Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is one of the top trash talkers in the NBA. Green, when challenged by Eli, didn’t waste any time thinking about what he’d say if he wanted to get under Peyton Manning’s skin during his appearance on the Manning brothers’ Monday Night Football.

Draymond Green hit Peyton Manning with a low blow

“I’d tell Peyton, as great as you’re supposed to be, the Colts cut you,” Green said, referring to Manning getting released by the Indianapolis Colts after he missed the entire 2011 season because of neck surgery.

“I thought nobody could sting me more than (Phil) Mickelson in the second quarter, but Draymond has done that here in the third quarter. I love it,” Peyton responded, while his brother laughed.

What is the Manningcast curse? Why did Eli beg Draymond Green to end it?

Following Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills’ surprising loss on Sunday, it appears that the “Curse of the ‘Manningcast’” is real. Peyton and Eli Manning’s alternative-commentary supplement to ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” show has now appeared on ESPN2 in five of the first nine weeks of the season. In each of those weeks, at least one active NFL player has been one of the brothers’ guests.

In every one of those cases, across six stars on some of the league’s best squads, that guest’s team has lost the following week. The losses have been unpredictable to outright bizarre. However, the Bills’ last night loss takes the cake away for being the most shocking of the lot. So far, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford, etc. have succumbed to the curse.

Thanks to the growing fear of the Manning Curse, host Eli begged NBA star Draymond to stop the trend. “All right, welcome back,” Eli said. “Still got Draymond. We got a little tweet here, says ‘Draymond on the Manning cast dot dot dot season is over.’ They’ve obviously heard about the curse. But Draymond obviously knew you can come on and you can curse or you can be cursed. He chose to curse and I think it’s going to work out just fine for you, Draymond.”

Please beat the Nets tomorrow, Draymond, so we can stop talking about this,” Peyton said.
