Earlier this week, Cordarrelle Patterson returned from his ankle injury and starred in the Atlanta Falcons 21-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Post match, the versatile player revealed his intentions of playing in the defense and the coach agreed with those sentiments as well. Cut forward to three days and the Falcons have officially listed the player as Reserve Safety.

Atlanta Falcons defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars

After two consecutive losses, it seemed like the Atlanta Falcons had lost their way. But thanks to the return of Cordarrelle Patterson and his match winning performance, the NFC South team notched up a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Patterson, who was coming off an injury arguably gave his best performance the season with 108 rushing yards and 2 TDs.

Falcons coach Arthur Smith felt grateful to have the versatile player back. As per Smith, the veteran brings in a unique element to the team and labeled him a warrior. “Obviously, having CP back adds an element,” said Arthur Smith. “He’s a warrior. He’s a big physical presence that can do a lot for us, It’s good to have him back”

Cordarrelle Patterson now listed as Falcons reserve safety

Cordarrelle Patterson, the Falcons’ wide receiver/running back/returner, wants to add another position to his portfolio. If reports are to be believed, the veteran wants to play in the defense and the team is willing to accommodate him.

Patterson has stated this season that he would like to see some defensive action and has set a goal of getting an interception. In fact, Patterson did play one defensive snap in Sunday’s win over the Jaguars. Head coach Arthur Smith acknowledged Patterson’s defensive efforts post match.

The coach went as far ahead to say that Patterson can really contribute on defence. “He got his defensive snap,” Smith said of Patterson. “I may put him on the depth chart next week at free safety,” revealed Smith.
