Jacoby Brissett started his NFL career under the tutelage of Tom Brady in the New England Patriots. And he won the Super Bowl while he was at it. But the Week 12 game against his former teammate and legend will be the most memorable one for him to date. It was when the pupil finally emerged from the teacher’s shadow.

The Browns won in overtime against Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what is expected to be Brissett’s last game of the season. Brissett dropped multiple f-bombs after the win, in Brady’s own words.

Jacoby Brissett quotes Tom Brady

The Browns came in as an underdog for the clash against the Buccaneers. With Deshaun Watson suspended, the Browns have relied on their backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett this season. And Brissett rose to the occasion in what is expected to be his last game for the team this season. The Browns won 23-17 in OT.

After the win, Brissett looked especially pumped. And why not, he had just beaten his old teammate and NFL legend Tom Brady. Speaking to the media after the game, Brissett expressed his excitement in the words of his former mentor.

“I mean this is no disrespect. But in the words of Tom Brady, that was f**kin’ awesome. That was f**kin’ awesome,” Brissett said.

Brissett shared the dressing room with Brady in New England when both of them were playing for the Patriots. Brady was the untouchable star of the team back then. He still is, albeit in Tampa Bay now. As for Brissett, he was a backup quarterback then. And he is still that now for the Browns. Watson will replace him in the starting lineup against the Houston Texans but nobody can take away this win from him.

Brissett filling the Deshaun Watson void
