Back in 2018, the Mahomes and Matthews families suffered a very huge loss. During a Kansas City Chiefs game, Brittany Matthews’ stepfather passed away. He suddenly collapsed while waiting to enter the stadium to watch the game. Brittany’s father never recovered from it and left a huge void in everyone’s life.

After the incident, Brittany posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram account. She wrote, “Today is a day I will never forget. Directly after this picture, I sprinted to the front entrance to see my stepdad passed out. He did not come back from this and he was called to heaven today … We will miss you, Paul … so, so, so much! I will take care of mom for you.”
This was a very sad moment for everyone associated with Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews. Suffering a loss of such a high magnitude is never easy to cope with. Hopefully, they got better as time passed by, and Mahomes and Brittany Matthews eventually got married and are living a happy life.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, also shared his condolences towards his star quarterback and her wife. Mahomes has the utmost respect for Coach Reid, and his words would have really helped him during that hard time.
Andy Reid said, “We’re sorry to hear about what took place yesterday. Our prayers and blessings are with the family. I’ve talked to Patrick and they’re doing well for the circumstance that took place.”
