The Buccaneers’ HC Bruce Arians stepped down just two weeks after Tom Brady announced his un-retirement. In this surprising move, Arians revealed the real reason behind his job switch to the front office. Previously, he talked about the importance of a succession plan. Moreover, he stressed giving opportunities to Black coaches like Bowles, female coaches, and other minority coaches.

Arians also explained that he wants Todd Bowles to have a tremendous second shot at head coaching, with Tom Brady returning as the starting quarterback. He said, “Had Tom not come back, I would probably still be coaching. I couldn’t give Todd that situation.”
Tom Brady’s reaction to Bruce Arians’ statement
The Buccaneers HC said that Tom Brady’s un-retirement led to his retirement decision. However, the Tampa Bay quarterback has all the positives about his former head coach. In an interview, Tom Brady stated, “He and I have a great relationship. A part of why I chose here was because of Bruce.”
Moreover, Brady said, “He knows how I feel about him, and that’s the most important thing, and I know how he feels about me.” The future Hall of Famer also revealed that Bruce Arians was one of the main reasons he chose to come to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the New England Patriots.

After serving a couple of roles as an assistant head coach, Bruce got his break as the Cardinals’ head coach in 2015. He helped guide them to within a game of the Super Bowl and established his mark. Consequently, he started his head coach stint at the Buccaneers in 2019 and helped them clinch the Lombardi Trophy by winning the Super Bowl LV in 2020.
These achievements have helped the retired Buccaneers HC make a case to become a Hall of Famer. As a result, he started the 2021 season with the chance of securing the gold jacket and a bronze bust in Canton, Ohio.
His much-celebrated career has come to an end with his retirement. However, HC’s influence on the teams he coached and with the players he trained will be left forever. Todd Bowles will undoubtedly look to carry his legacy, with Tom Brady returning as the starting quarterback for the Buccaneers in the NFL LVII.
