After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 to give Kansas City Chiefs its second NFL championship in four seasons, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated that he does not plan on retiring anytime soon. Before the kickoff of the Super Bowl LVII, Andy Reid said he had the decision to make regarding his future as a coach in the team. Despite the rumors saying he might retire, the Chiefs’ head coach shut down all speculations by saying that he is going to hang around for a while.

When Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reached out to Andy Reid on whether he will continue or not post the Super Bowl, The 64-year-old head coach said that the only thing he is focusing on at the moment is trying to savor the experience more than he has in the previous Super Bowls he has coached. It seemed like Reid had not made his mind up regarding his future with the Kansas City Chiefs about the possible outcome of his future along with his team.

While turning 65 next month, he must have felt that his career must be coming to an end rather than another beginning.

With the opportunity to create something special with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Reid is possibly looking at another season before calling it quits altogether.
Reid is not in the mood to leave anytime soon
At the post-game conference, according to NBC Sports, Reid shut down the rumors surrounding his retirement as the head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. He stated, “Listen, I look in the mirror and I’m old. My heart, though, is young. I still enjoy doing what I’m doing.”
He added, “I got asked that 50 times here, finally I just go, ‘Whatever, man.’ And that’s a good friend, Jay Glazer is a good friend. So, I mean, he’s probably telling me to get my tail out, I’m too old. But I’m good with what I’m doing right now.”

After taking over as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, Reid owns a remarkable 117-45 regular season record with the franchise. He has also spearheaded the Chiefs to 9 playoff appearances in 10 seasons, three AFC championships in five seasons since the 2018 campaign, and seven back-to-back AFC West titles.

Andy Reid is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, and has added two super bowl titles to that record as well. He has set himself as an example that there is nothing impossible for those who will try. Maybe we will see him continue in this spectacular fashion for another season. But for now, Reid and his team will enjoy and success of winning Super Bowl LVII.
