Tom Brady surprised the NFL world with his retirement announcement- a second one in two years. While many of his contemporaries have long since left the game, at 45 years old, the QB wasn’t quite ready to let go just yet. From his recent statements on his podcast, it does seem like Brady had more to give.
But, the QB has more pressing matters to attend to. With the latest buzz surrounding his move to the broadcasting world making its rounds, TB12’s father shared some insight on the situation.

Tom Brady has given his parents more than they could’ve asked for. As arguably the most accomplished quarterback in the history of the game, there’s not much that he hasn’t already done.
But like every concerned parent, Tom Brady Sr wanted his son to take a break. While the QB’s endurance in his 40’s is remarkable, his father didn’t want to see him pushing himself beyond the limit.
Post TB12’s announcement, Brady Sr was in conversation with ESPN’s Mike Greenberg.
He said, “This has been a really rough six months on his personal life, his family life, on his football life. He once said this, he said, ‘I’m getting tired of getting hit.’ You know, having played 23 years and he holds the ignominious record of most sacks [taken] in the NFL — I think 600 or 700 sacks — and there must be another two or three thousand knockdowns.”
In the last few months TB12 witnessed the collapse of his 13-year marriage, took on co-parenting responsibilities, battled legal drama with his investments and garnered criticism for his poor performance. Brady Sr also added that he was “relieved” for his son after he chose to put his playing career to rest after 23 years.
Brady has some much-needed time off
It’s not often that fans witness this level of greatness during a single lifetime. Brady’s career has been the embodiment of dominant success. He has not only pushed past the physical constraints that generally hold athletes back but has also exhibited mental fortitude through tough times.
