Deion Sanders has made himself one of the most sought-after coaches over the last few years. The HOF-er became one of the hottest topics in the College Football (CFB) world after he announced his decision to move from Jackson State to the Colorado Buffaloes over six months ago. While his decision was cause for much controversy, the Football legend has finally clarified the truth about why he chose to move to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Ever since his move to the Buffaloes, Sanders has been central to the College Football world, especially with the recent decisions by Coach Prime and his team to move out of the Pac-12 Conference. With the CFB landscape constantly evolving and changing, Sanders recently joined Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt for an interview to reveal his story about moving to the Buffaloes.

For Coach Prime, choosing his next home after his stint with Jackson State was never about the money. While Sanders eventually signed a mammoth $29,500,000 deal to serve as the Buffaloes Head Coach over the next five years, he was never driven to the Centennial State by the paycheck. As he revealed during his conversation with Klatt, Sanders had a much more raw and human reasoning behind the decision.

I’m a need-to-be-needed type person. I’m sorry, I’m gonna say it. I said it, okay, you showed me a need, I got you. You showed me you don’t need me, I got you still – I won’t be around.

Sanders told Klatt about his experiences while talking to the Athletic Director of the Buffaloes, Rick George. For the 8x Pro Bowler, money was never a demand, but he instead expected the team to show him their need for him. Once he was satisfied with understanding the Buffaloes’ requirements from him, especially after coming off a 1-11 season, Sanders knew what his next destination in the changing landscape of CFB would be.

The rapidly evolving College Football landscape

The world of College Football has been majorly impacted ever since the end of last season. The Pac 12, part of the Power Five conferences, has been severely affected in recent times with many teams announcing their departure. With the USC Trojans to the UCLA Bruins moving on to the Big 10, two of the major teams of the conference have left a void looking to be filled.

But the biggest concern for the Pac 12 at the moment is the status of Sanders and the Buffaloes, who too, have confirmed their departure from the conference. With their failure to acquire a new media deal, nearly 8 weeks away from the College Football season, and the uncertain future of several teams in the conference, the Pac 12 is in severe danger.
