Joe Burrow, the Bengals QB, has come under fire for his performance in the recent loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite a promising start to the season, the Bengals lost to the Chiefs in a game that saw Burrow struggle to make crucial plays when it mattered most. The Bengals were no match for the rampaging Chiefs.
They lost 23-20 in a heartbreaking fourth quarter. The loss was a disappointment for Bengals fans and Burrow himself. The Bengals were hoping to clinch a victory against the top team in the AFC and secure a spot in the Super Bowl. But Mahomes reigned supreme to drive the Chiefs to the Super Bowl once again.

Joe Burrow still needs to add a pep to his step.
One of the major criticisms of Burrow’s performance was his inability to perform in clutch situations. The Chiefs defense, however, was relentless. Burrow was under constant pressure throughout the game, throwing two interceptions and getting sacked five times. Despite the pressure, Burrow was expected to rise to the occasion and deliver when it mattered most. But, Burrow and the Bengals could not find their way towards their second straight Super Bowl.
"Joe Burrow's biggest flaw in the AFC Championship Game was that he wasn't Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady."

After the game, former NFL players and analysts had a field day at Burrow’s expense. Chris Broussard, on First Things First, claimed that Burrow lacked the clutch gene. “He’s not Mahomes, and yet, he’s certainly not Tom Brady, because if one of those guys gets the ball, tie game what two and a half minutes left, you think it’s over.” Wright said on the show.
Burrow’s performance in the game was not without its highlights, though. He completed 26 of 41 passes for 270 yards and a TD. But his inability to lead a game-winning drive in the final moments of the game has been under heavy criticism.

Burrow is still a relatively inexperienced quarterback, and it is far too early to write him off. He has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season. He has the potential to develop into one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. It is also common for young quarterbacks to struggle in clutch situations early in their careers.
It is also worth noting that the loss to the Chiefs was not solely on Burrow’s shoulders. The Bengals have had their struggles as a team. Their defense was unable to stop the Chiefs from scoring on the game-winning drive in the final seconds. And, of course, the play which sealed the fate of the game, was certainly not on Burrow. Bengals DE Joseph Ossai gave away a reckless penalty allowing the Chiefs to draw within scoring distance, and seal the game.

The Bengals must now regroup and turn their focus to the offseason. They have a young and talented roster, and they will have plenty of opportunities to redeem themselves in the future. The team and its fans must remain patient and support Burrow as he continues to develop as a quarterback.
