BYU college prodigy Zach Wilson finds himself in the news after some eye-catching displays during his Pro Day performance this week. The talented quarterback made some dazzling throws which went viral on social media. In fact, an unnamed NFL scout even told reporters that Wilson is a guaranteed second-overall pick at the 2021 NFL Draft.
Robert Saleh’s New York Jets currently own the second overall pick and are obviously on the hunt for a new quarterback. The clock has reportedly run out for Sam Darnold, who could make an exit from New York this summer. With Trevor Lawrence (Clemson Tigers) expected to join Urban Meyer-coached Jacksonville Jaguars, who will the Jets move for at number two?

Who will the New York Jets select at number two at the 2021 NFL Draft?
I'm just taking a wild guess that the Jets aren't taking Zach Wilson and the Niners know it. Not that they would have a connection to the Jets or anything. Just saying…

Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers traded up to acquire the third-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on the weekend. This complicated things at the top of the draft, especially with respect to the long-term plans of the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons. As Twitter user @hooktshooter rightfully pointed out above, the Jets might not move in for Wilson during the 2021 NFL Draft, which gives the 49ers a chance to move in for him.
BYU starlet Zach Wilson registered 7,652 passing yards, with 56 passing TDs and 15 interceptions. Additionally, he amassed 693 rushing yards and 15 rushing TDs during his three-year stay in Utah.
Here are some of the best plays made by Wilson over the course of the 2020 NCAA college football season.

Another possible option for the Jets will be Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. The battle for number two is really between Fields and Wilson at the moment. Whoever misses out is more or less sure to sign for the 49ers in the summer.
Outside contenders for a potential move to join the Jets would include Trey Lance (NDSU) and Mac Jones (Alabama Crimson Tide Football). The former saw his stock drop in 2020 after opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 crisis. Meanwhile, Jones finished as a Heisman Trophy finalist leading Alabama to the CFP National Championship earlier this year.
