The Washington Commanders have entered a new era under the ownership of Josh Harris. Former Washington Commanders‘ owner, Dan Snyder, sold the team to Josh Harris for a staggering $6.05 billion. Since then, the team has been on the lookout for a new stadium. This change in leadership has pushed the Commanders to explore the possibilities for a new stadium, with Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. all in the running.

Josh Harris believes that Commanders are much more than a sports team as he, himself grew up being a fan of Washington football. Now, they’re ready to spend the money for a new stadium, but that isn’t close. So, they’ll have to stick with what they have and, therefore, are making huge investments in their present digs. Now the question arises, What transformative changes are in store for their current stadium?

This Thursday, the 3x Super Bowl winning team announced that they will invest a whopping sum of $40 million into their FedEx Field stadium. Kleiman tweeted about the investment and its details on his Twitter. This expenditure will not only upgrade the infrastructure but also enhance the experience for fans. They’re planning on upgrading new ticket scanning pedestals, point of sale upgrades, 3 new themed suites, and upgraded Commanders branded banners around the stadium.

As things are changing, the person responsible for Operations and guest experience for the Commanders, Trista Langdon, commented about the deal. She says that they are not only taking care of the fans but also the houses as shared in Kleiman’s tweet. She reassured the fans that they would see major improvements in and around the stadium throughout the year. Harris, along with others is facing different issues other than the stadium.

With upgrades in the machines and imagery, the stadium will also be painted around as well as ensuring top-notch conditions of the bowl. Trista said, “We have the best fans in football – and they deserve the best game-day experience.” Some say that with all of these upgrades and changes happening, they also might consider changing their name, which prompted a response from the team president.

The name ‘Redskins’ will never be in consideration

As this assumption was stirring the internet, the president of the Commanders, Jason Wright, clarified the rumor. He sat down with Radio 106.7 and said that it’s not being considered. He further added that it was just a rumor.

Many Native American leaders have put forth that it’s racially discriminatory to call the Commanders, Redskins. Some fans want the name to revert back to what it was and they’re also signing petitions for it. But that doesn’t change how the natives feel about the name.
